The 3 mm thick foam ring in the capsules is based on Intercept technology, which has been patented for over 30 years. The copper particles contained in the material permanently bind corrosive gases and quickly create a neutralised atmosphere that actively protects the coins from oxidation (guaranteed protection for up to 15 years*). The effectiveness has been proven in accordance with the proven DIN, EN, ISO and ASTM standards, among others.

*Under normal storage conditions, the effective period significantly exceeds the specified 15 years! Only under very unfavourable conditions (e.g. exceptionally high levels of air pollution or constant opening of the capsules/boxes) may the capacity of the Intercept material be exhausted before the end of the 15-year period. You can recognise the decline in material effectiveness by a dark grey to greenish discolouration of the foil (not the coins!). In this case, you should replace the product with a new one.
